Price

SupaJot is $4.99 once for three Macs, with every 1.x update included. Tot is free to download on Mac, iPhone and iPad, with paid premium features; on the Mac App Store the in-app purchase is listed at $19.99. Both have a free way in: after SupaJot's 14-day trial, the Scratch tab, the styling and the math keep working, and the named tabs become read-only until you buy.

One Mac, or all your devices

Tot is ahead here. It runs on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, syncs through iCloud, and adds Shortcuts actions and home screen widgets. SupaJot is Mac only and doesn't sync in 1.0; sync is on the list for a later version. If you jot something on your phone and finish it on your Mac, Tot fits that better.

Plain files and math

Each SupaJot tab is a plain Markdown file in your Library folder. Time Machine backs it up, and you can open it in any editor while SupaJot is quit. Start a line with = and the result appears at the end of it, with percentages, 1.5k, and = sum to add up a list. Click a result to copy it.

Getting to your note

Press ⌘⇧J in any app and SupaJot's note appears on top. Esc hides it. It remembers its size and position on each screen. Tot organises text into seven color-coded dots, with checklists, word and character counts, and automatic backups.

Questions and answers

Is SupaJot a subscription?

No. SupaJot is $4.99 once for three Macs, with every 1.x update included.

Does SupaJot sync to my iPhone like Tot?

How many notes can I keep?

SupaJot has the Scratch tab plus up to eleven named tabs. Tot has seven dots.
